If you and the ocean spoke the same language...
This painting of an underwater rocky shoal is a work in progress. Over the coming weeks, I'll be filling it in with sea stars, sea anemones, nudibranchs, swimming rockfish and herring, floating jellies, and more.
You're invited to help me complete this painting by answering the following question:
If you and the ocean spoke the same language, what would you say (to each other)?
Send me an email with your response (or post in the comments below) and I'll embed your thoughts into the finished artwork. If you contribute, let me know your location. I'll keep posting images of the work as it evolves.
This interactive artwork is part of a larger project exploring ocean literacy in Canada, spearheaded by the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition. I'm honoured to be selected as one of four artists in different regions of the country engaging the public through art-making. I'm the artist for the Pacific Region; the others are Karen Tamminga-Paton (Inland), Nancy Breton (St. Lawrence), Jane Affleck (Atlantic).
